Quest For Glory Mod for Neverwinter Nights

FAQ:

  • The Quest for Glory games in their originality will always be timeless and unforgettable.  At the time, the graphics were great but it was story that was even better.  This goal of this project is to let people experience the story of Quest for Glory with out having to do allot of work.  Getting old dos games to play can be a hassle, and the Neverwinter Nights Aurora Engine provides an excellent platform to remake the old game. 

  • A question you may or may not have is:  Will this mod be for old NWN or will it require SOU?  At this point, I really don't know yet.  Developing for SOU is much easier and the desert tileset is already there along with lots of other useful scripts.  If developed in standard, a desert tiles set would have to be included.  I plan on having a vote as soon as this project gets more well known.

  • Character class will be restricted to Fighter, Wizard, Thief, and Paladin later on.  Multi-classing will only be allowed among those three.  2da files will be added in using HAK files to do this.  Leveling and character development will be highly restricted.  The game is meant to be fun and follow a story.  Only items in the Mod will be allowed.

8/24/2003:
Currently working on progress indicators for main page and this page.  Hopefully will have them up soon.
8/9/2003:
Still working on getting areas together.  Also working on determining what custom content is going to be required, and what sections of the the original QG game will be the most difficult.  Obviously, capes are being added and no tileset will need to be added  becasue the current ones are sufficient.  So far, the most difficult part I can think of for QG1 (the first mod) will be the maze at the end.  Terrosaurus Rexes may pose a problem, Baba Yaga's Hut will not be easy, and possibly Erasmus' house.  Fortunately, since NWN has a vast cornucopia of spells, weapons, armor, potions, and etc, that will not be a problem.

I am also still in the decision phase of whether or not to go SOU or keep it in the original NWN.  I am also devising a progress meter of some sorts to put on the main page and this page. and I will be adding a section to the bottom soon that will have a break down of what is done and what needs to be done.  I am also considering whether or not to enlist a team to help with this project.  I will be going back to college (for my last year!!) soon and I will not have as much time as I do in the summers.
